Operating a web site has three basic prerequisites:
1. Domain Name Registration
2. Web Hosting
3. Web Design
The first is quite simple, registering a domain name can be done over the phone or via the forms on this site. The Domain Name Registration Fee is immediately payable on successful registration of your Domain Name.
Web Hosting is provided by Shaw Technologies which provides the necessary server processes to run your domain. Usually, email is included in Hosting Packages, unless you specifically don't need it.
Web Design is usually the responsibility of the domain owner, there are plenty of free tools available with which to edit your website for upload to our servers. Optionally, Shaw Technologies can undertake to design your site, our regular consultancy fees apply.
After you complete the online form, you application is lodged with the relevant Domain Name Registrar. Your account and web site shell is set up on the server, along with any email accounts you requested created. You will be issued an email from Shaw Technologies detailing how you can access the server to upload your site, and also how to collect email from any accounts created. After your site is uploaded and when the domain name registration process is complete, your domain name will resolve correctly and the site will become visible to the rest of the Internet. Email will collect as normal and any services you ordered will come online.
